I came across this the other day on craigslist and thought I would put it up here
in case someone here is interested. Mike
Phase Linear 400 System - $845 (Arvada, CO)
condition: Amp needs repair.
make / manufacturer: Phase Linear, Lynnwood, WA, Utah
model name / number: Amp. 400, PreAmp. 4000, Tuner 5
size / dimensions: 19 inch rack mount
Don't know much about this system from the 1970s. Includes matching P-L 5000 tuner and P-L 4000 pre amplifier. Bob Carver designed it who set the high power (400 Watts), audio standard with it. I understand this equipment is OEM and untouched since manufacture, with the exception of the speakers which match the Phase Linear electronics by vintage. I bought these acoustic suspension Utah's (10") about 45 years ago and upgraded them with high frequency drivers and crossover networks from ISI in Denver a few years later. They are actually made of real walnut wood veneered high density particle board. They still work perfectly and are comparable to large Advents. Their sound is excellent compared to Fisher, etc. The amplifier needs repairs and has a serial number of 3xxx. These components will need to be auditioned, one at a time, at your place. Please pardon the pink hued pictures.
