A torch song is a sentimental love song, typically one in which the singer laments an unrequited or lost love, either where one party is oblivious to the existence of the other, where one party has moved on, or where a romantic affair has affected the relationship.

-Wikipedia

But this wasn't a literal reference. Pat was on the right avenue, if maybe with dead batteries.

This band influenced EVERYBODY, or perhaps they were under the influence themselves, which might help to explain why they weren't getting played on Top 40 radio much.

Another clue in two or so hours.

But WHOM B.jpg Joined the band with his brother (now deceased) for this album.

The family name was not Stone. Everybody was tripping at the time though.

Contains a song about a topic near and dear to Navo.

That's some Bernie Worrell. P-Funk [Parliament - Funkadelic] action right there !
The Bro's you referred to where the Collins brothers.

The later picture had me thinking down a Kool and the Gang path, at first.
Then the Talking Heads clue along with the funky, way-out - not of this earth - comments dialed it in for me.
This is actually a fairly famous album cover.

Good pick Steven !

Here's another one ...

For starters -

Same decade. Debut album.
Rock? I suppose. But can be unclear at times, during this groups reign.
Popular? This group established popularity right off the bat even though there was conflict about who was doing what.

Sorry I am late, I was buying groceries. YES, you are correct. Congratulations, Tony!

PS Quod Est. is pretty much Latin for "What It Is"
