The Beatles - The White Album
Mono
180g LP
... my first pass, with headphones ...
Update:
My copy of this album reminds me of the poor quality of LP's, common in the days before CD.
Early side static and clicks followed by a quieting down for the most part, albeit a spurious chick or smear in sound here & there.
No comparison to the MFSL pressings. Even my 70's box set renders quieter playback than this.
There's no run-out rumble and the discs are flat-as-can-be, but the static/click count is way too high.
The mono presentation on this album reveals a lot about differences in mastering/mixing and the difference in sonics is super cool.
The differences in the mono "versions" of various songs is quite cool too and really shine vs the mono CD's.
I thoroughly enjoy the experience but the pressing quality is inexcusable considering the price commanded.
I suppose I am just spoiled by JVC virgin vinyl and the quality control demonstrated by other releases ...
