I think she will be ok with a 700 as long as that crazy longhaired guy Ron is not around, he have this communicable disease called turnitupitis and it's catchy :happy2:

EDIT: You are right though Mike, I was thinking a 400 also but she will just end up wanting the Big Bitch anyway so might as well nip it in the bud LMAO. I see a big honking pair of Cerwin Vega's in her future though

Well its probably good thing I'm not around. That would make two crazy longhairs reaching for the turnitupitis controls.:laughing7:

I love that crazy MF Ginger Baker- he's a genius drummer. Ever see the documentary on him where he punches the filmmaker in the head?

I have several systems set up (and lots of equipment not in use) but the reason I ended up here is that I've been looking for something really great and cool to drive my Allison Ones. I'll use a Sony SACD player and a Thorens TT for the sources and I have a Nackamichi 610 pre to use with the WOPL.
Did I hear you say Thorens? =)) They are awesome turntables. I have the TD 160 Super and TD 165.

New to my Thorens TD166 MKll:
Shure V13 Series lll w/ Jico SAS, wood plinth, RCA plugs, cart leads, feet, belt & metal knobs instead of the stock black plastic ones
wood plinth had to be modded in back to accept the original dustcover

Love it!

Here's a pic of my 160 Super, Shure 3009 Series 2 improved tone arm, Audio Technica AT440MLa cartridge (microline stylus).

Everything else is original except for extra chassis dampening. Have played many many records on this unit.

Can't beat the V15s w/ the Jico SAS stylus! I have had several Thorens over the years but my fave was a TD-320 which was replaced with my PL-550. Yeah, probably some of the same dust on my stand LMAO!!!

I had a TD-145 and TD-146 but sold them last year

Man you guys must have iron earz... I still can't get anywhere NEAR burying my needles on the WOPL'd 400 I did without wondering if my eyes are going to come loose.. :toothy5: And I get tired of picking up everything that falls off the shelves - man, you'd think an old sailor like me would know how to "prepare for heavy weather" LMAO. :hello1:

I like the 400's sound just a WEE bit better than the 700 after wopl'd. Anywhoo.. except for "Frankenstein" (gonna wait for them new enclosures, and I'm still mulling over the HALF inch thick slab I bought for a faceplate), my plate's empty and it's about time for another build (winks at Michele... ). Is it worth it?? Hell yes, it is... and I have a whole closet full of amps I will probably never listen to again to show for that.

I can get to that level out of my 25 watt amps. Not sure how anyone could listen at really high levels without pain. I can't even mow my grass without ear plugs.

What might be perceived as pain, is also perceived as enjoyment to another. Hearing is only 1 part of loud music, feeling it, is the other.
