You will have to let us know more about it in a dedicated thread. There has to be a flip-down panel concealing some of the advanced deck functions.

Nando.
Brilliant score! I have seen one of these on the bay and they ask for quite high prices. Not sure how they perform but I know that grundig is quite a high end brand. Please take a picture showing all the functions and dials if possible. A picture of the internals would be nice too.
As you wish guys:

Here are some very first impressions without doing anything on it, no cleaning or whatever, I only lifted the bonnet of this rarity:

Not a high-end deck, but I must conclude I've seen worser over the last two years and there's not a single scratch on it, so I will give it a nice clean-up the upcoming days and will have some fun with it.

Love it, Miles. Just on looks alone and uniqueness I would keep it. I had never seen one before, and I like to see vintage components that are rarities.

I, also, like the cassette centre-well and tray-loading bay... and flip-down panels... and the fact it is a Grundig.

It IS a rarity Nando.
There almost isn't any usefull information on the internet about this deck, but luckily I found the user manual in German Language which I can read and understand.

My long time friend, Ian, and I want to congratulate you on your newest addition. Ian lives in Germany and visits Canada often.

Oh yeah - do have some fun with this Miles!

On reflection, I'm not sure if I like the looks or not. The display is certainly far too small for my tastes.

Then again, clean the thing up and I'm sure you will make a tidy profit if you choose to flip it.

That is one cool deck. Grundig stuff is extremely well engineered, just not as well known or (as you found) available as ReVox, Tandberg and other European audio manufacturers. Really cool find. Hope it lasts a long time for you.

Unfortunately it doesn't....

A closer and detailed look (and listening!) showed a lot of issues. I found out that most (90%) of the deck is Philips stuff with an average quality.
I have to sort out what is wrong with this one, but it's for sure it won't stay long in my collection.

Nothing will be lost in here, I paid only €2,- for the whole deck.......

Does it have voltage conversion? All the Grundig I've ever seen was a portable multiband radio or two at our former Radio Shack.

Actually, I also have a traveler's converter kit.
