No word back, but that doesn't surpirse me. Need to lurk on AK and see who ended up with it;-). I did just get a call from a gentleman looking to sell his NIB Pioneer RT 1020L and I am hoping to be the lucky boy who gets to take it home. Still has all original packaging it shipped with from the factory. We are supposed to meet up on Monday but I may try and get there tomorrow. Not sure what to offer him a this point as I would like to see the condition of the outer box and see if it truly is new as claimed.
Good luck on the purchase of the Pioneer RT-1020L, Douglas. It sounds like an exceptional R2R. But, I haven't seen any RT-1020Ls that weren't anything other than clean and well-running. Sometimes, a NIB unit that hasn't run for awhile could have a few bugs.

Going to assume that is does not run/ needs repairs, Nando and will need to factor that into the equation. I was going to purchase it without powering it up as I wanted to leave everything intact for the time being. Agree that RT 1020's are reliable units and one of the reasons that I like them so much- they usually work! I own two presently, one of which came with original packaging and they both have been great decks.
