It has to be the right type of music to fit the job. Mötley Crüe causes me to burn my finger tips while soldering. I, prematurely, lose patience.

Daren: I bet you could feature another ten obscure 90's albums, and I wouldn't have any of those either. Thanks for the contributions and the wonderful pictures.

Thank you. I appreciate your comments.

Opportunity permitting, I'll try at some point to do another list of ten titles pertaining to a particular theme.

Probably compact discs next time around, but you got me thinking Nando...

How much of a playlist can you can cram into that I-thing, Miles? Is that a C-60 MB stick?

Hopefully they wake up at more than just "Sony".

Nice to see some new quality gear coming though.

I too, would love to see the big Jap names make a serious return to the arena.

I'd be interested to know if any of this new stuff is actually going to be made in Japan. I'm not convinced that the quality is quite there (yet) when products have been manufactured in places like China and Malaysia.

For me, that "Made in Japan" label instills a degree of reassurance.

Broken beyond repair but highly affable
Thanks for sharing.
Exciting times for audiophile gear to be sure !
As Clara Peller would say,

Where's the PRE? Do I have to buy a big Conrad-Johnson to feel my Technics?

(I think she would have anyway...:laughing5:)

If it were to be made in Japan today, then the price would suffer, putting it way out of reach of most people - there's really no getting around that fact.
Unfortunately, the converse is true as well, in many cases - just not as steadfast. Good stuff is produced in volume, at better pricing levels, in Malaysia and even China if the quality systems are intact.

But back to the Technics stuff. Looks promising to those that have the coin. Similar to the Yamaha stuff someone posted about, last year was it?
Again the problem is price. The pricing is astronomical compared to what was considered "high end" from Japan back in the 80's and 90's.

Better to seek out well cared-for, vintage Japanese gear from the pre-owned market. :thumbleft:

It is good to see an old name back on the block, but I can't see these new products being overly successful and I would suggest that the demand will be fairly limited.

As you say, the savvy buyers will be looking at vintage stuff. If purchasing new, these units need to be top notch if they are to win over discerning listeners.

I'd still be curious to find out more - especially the integrated amp which looks rather attractive.
