I saw the "Your Latest Mix" thread, but I found no true substitute for "Your Latest Tape" from different forums.
So, I guess I'll start up the thread! If this thread has been done before, please let me know! :rabbit:

Anyways, this is my latest:
Album: Queen - Innuendo
Deck: NAD 6100
Tape: Original album tape (accidently erased part of it, but it didn't sound great with Dolby and such...)
NR: No
Source: 1991 CD FLAC rip
dB Level: +5 Max

Sounds MUCH better now. I don't think this was duplicated in the higher end digital loop bins. But that doesn't matter anyways, my NAD 6100 is up to the job of improving that!

Good idea, I have never tried restoring a Pre-Recorded cassette with my own recording of the album. Its nice to have the original labeling of the album too. Duplication plants certainly varied in quality, which diminished as the second/third gen master tape it was sourced from wore due to many passes.

It only works on tapes not worn down. I've had tapes where re-recording wouldn't make it sound better. Then I just measure how long the tape is (look up tracks, calculate time), seek/buy a tape with the same length, open up the pre-recorded one, and replace the tape with the new tape. Record the album from FLAC, and I have a fresh tape, while keeping the same shell. Perhaps it's not as original, but it sounds quite a bit better!

That`s a nice idea..

I was thinking of doing the same "restoration" with a "Curiosity Killed the Cat" prerecorded tape I once got as a gift.
I found the FLAC album too.
