Yup, the 600 ohm versions need more juice if the component you have your headphones plugged into are post 1990's vintage.

I realize speakers have a break-in period, especially, after replacing speaker surrounds, but I didn't expect to break-in a pair of headphones.

Some people say they need to break in, some say they don't.
I'm just inbetween I guess, I've never noticed headphones changed drasticly in sound after a longer period of use.

I actually believe in two kinds of break-in, the mechanical break-in that occurs in the cans and the mental break-in that happens in the brain.
Sounds silly I know, but I truly believe in the psycho acoustical phenomenon of the brain adapting to the EQ of particular headphones over time.
Adapting for the better sometimes and vice verse ...

I'm totally with you in this, and maybe it's easier to understand why it is fun to have different headphones (each with it's own characteristics) to choose to.
