Pat, I clicked on the " Ghost Blues- The Story of Rory Gallagher "...All hour and 21 minutes of it. What I had not realized was how influential he was. I haven't listened to anything of his where I knew it was him. I'm very intrigued by it. As a blues/rock fusion type thing he defineatly had his own style. He also appeared to love to play live more than any thing else, I would have loved to see him play...

And on another note...."the troubles" always came accross on US TV as a domestic terrorist dispute. What was it REALLY??

That ghost blues is the shit. His first band taste is awesome and so is all his solo stuff. It's a must for everybody IMO ...

I agree Ghost Blues is a really good tribute to Rory. He was a very detemined and single-minded man when it came to music, and even discarded a whole albums worth of recordings because he thought it was too polished and insisted on re-recording it again at great expense to the record company.
I think due to the fact he was so clear in his own direction, and would never allow himself to be steered by a record company, he never reaped the rewards he might have if he did.

Its really hard to believe he will be dead 19 years dead this year.
But I have this to look forward to next week http://www.rorygallagherfestival.com/
Have a look at this video of Band of Friends....

These were two thirds of Rory's backing band from back in the day and I can tell you these guys really make a fantastic racket live.
And I will be up there at the front wrecking the last bit of my hearing next weekend

Stevie at Montreux and Live at the El Mocambo are my favorite live shows from him.

I really like in the Montreux vid when everyone is booing him. He also tears up Gimme Back My Wig.

It was one of his first shows. Actually the show where he was seen by Jackson Browne and offered time in his studio, which Stevie took him up on and recorded Texas Flood. Apparently his style of music wasnt matched well with the other acts.

Ppl were in shock callin him a jimi hendrix rip off. That didn't last long then they started callin him jimi reincarnated basically lol. By Stevie's end he had surpassed hendrix and pretty much everybody else also. Before and after him....
