This is a straightforward little integrated Pioneer...why won't it sell?

This guy has listed several times and it's had more than two watchers. Read the ad and tell me what keeps them from getting it?

I can't see how the bad channel would be so hard to fix.

It's a really nice picture and shows what knob is missing too. It's not like it would be impossible to finish, is it?

It's 15wpc. I think ppl are looking for the 1250's and stuff as there more highly regarded . This is from the same year as my sx-939 and it pushes I belive it's either 85wpc or 100wpc. And restored that's only worth around 350.and thats part of the sx series not the sa. For 350$ I would not sell my 939. It sounds way better than 350$

Well it would be about $60 shipped. A tech doing simple repairs is going to be a minimum of $100 and very possibly more. So you are at $160. You still have a 15 watt amp with a missing knob and dents and scratches on a not very much in demand amp. For just a bit more you could get a better amp. If you need to do further repairs on this down the road it could be a little money pit.

If your doing the repairs yourself you have to figure out what you are worth.

You will have more invested in fixing that integrated than it is worth if you have to pay somebody to fix it.....I speak from experience. That is why I am learning to fix my own stuff.

same here. i've been learning how to fix as much as i possibly manage to on my own. i'm not much good with repairs to the electronics themselves,
but i'm something of a gifted amateur with issues of a mechanical nature.

all the same, i did once check with a cheap VOM, and successfully replace a faulty PCB component on my PIO DV-09 DVDP's PSU board... though i'd be remiss to not admit
that i had PLENTY of help from a friend online in tackling that job... something i would have never been able to figure out on my own...

I had a similar problem with a Harman Kardon 230 Nocturne AND 330i along the way and both turned out to be a bad block resistor or broken lead. I also owned an SX-939, it's 80 watts and a SMIDGE conservative on that for the sake of the FTC.

It could also be the volume, balance or a switch with a problem...I've encountered all three.

I appreciate the small wattage sets as much as the behemoths. And nobody tossed you out when you got a zit.

I think the point I'm trying to make is that if you have a small den or bench and want some nice sound in the room it would be about perfect. My very first Pioneer receiver was/is SX-525 and 15 watts per channel can fill up a small area of most of a small house like mine nicely (heck, I have a bi-amped type setup on my Panasonic RX-DT680 in the kitchen that fills the house alone).

The house I used the 525 in and this one are very similar in size too. As for one knob, they got them coming out the wazoo on eBay...

It's a cool looking little amp but I would not pay more then $5 for one at a yardsale. I imagine it clips pretty fast and has zero headroom even when working. Might be good for a pair of Minimus 7's on the garage shelf but I am spoiled by the 135wpc system I have out there now driving a big honking pair of Infinity's

If you want small power Steven, I have a Tandberg 3030 that was hooked up to the Infinity's for awhile and it kicked pretty decent ass. Tuner is fine to my ear, just has two lamps out and a few controls could use a spray

I have a TX and SA-800 pair and no, the amp does not crap out, it's probably similar to the SX-525 in some ways.

I wasn't looking to buy it, I wanted some opinions as to what held it back from selling.

Now, I have several pairs of speakers that don't mind low-wattage amps at all...some, like my CS-33s need some repair and I have built a few myself. After I get the 5050 I want to concentrate on the amps and receivers I have, tape decks and some portables I've found. I managed to find a Walkman WM-2 for $10, an early heavy chassis dual headphone with talk line by Cybertech (including the vinyl cover case for $10 and a Pioneer PK-R7AW all weather recording portable, Dolby on playback only and autoreverse, Music Search for $20 so I'm hoping Web can take payments on the 5050 as working or not (the WM-2 needs belts, that what I know for now) all three are pretty good finds.

I sold a mint Pioneer SA-500 on ebay about 10 years ago. I think I got about $20 for it at the time. It working very well but no one wanted to pay for a 15wpc amp.

Times have changed some...the one that showed up at the former auction house down the street last year probably doubled that or slightly more and the buyer got it for somebody, made a profit.

That's what got me interested in my 800 pair, and I love 'em.

By the way for some of you it's not such a trouble getting it as it's in Yakima, WA. They may list again, then again they might tear it down but since it's not so common they'll probably relist or go on CL.

Not sure why the entire SM isn't available for free anywhere, just the schematics. The TUNER has a full SM.
