I thought I was the only one....
Nvr thought of that! My dad does woodworking . These would be super easy for him to make. That's something to think about also with the 25 700's. If ppl are gonna want or need cases depending on what type of wood used would prob help determine a cost. Shipping could be a bit salty maybe but something to think about. I know he would enjoy it. Now that we're talking about this I might have him make me one out of one the pieces of wood from the 1837 barn at the farm. That will make mine a bit sentimental !!

There's a good chance you will run into chestnut and if so, I would be down for one. I have some exotic woods here but it's various flooring including brazilian rosewood (pre-ban), tigerwood, brazilian cherry etc... no super wide stuff. I think I have some 8" quartersawn that is wide enough though! Rift cut, clear select AAA white oak that is absolutely sick looking when finished. It was customed milled and was $26 foot. Crazy expensive but the wood was all hand selected before it was even milled. It went into a 175 year old Summer home down in Newport Beach, RI. 3600sqft of it random width 4" 6" and 8" plank. Do the math, that does not even factor my labor to install/finish at $75 per hour (lots of bordering including dining room inner and outer boarders. The inner encompassed the area of the 10' x 5' dining room table and highback chairs, tight fitting to rounded staircases, triple collar 4 fireplace stones and a the $5000 3ft custom medallion at the front door entrance). Took me just over two weeks and that included 3 stage sanding and finishing it with 4 coats of Lenmar semi-gloss. The wood takes on a subdued golden color and the grain races everytime you move. Sick floor indeed, climbing uo into the widow watch was no fun in either process but that was done also with a double outer boarder and $2k 2' medallion in the center. They set an old beautiful brass telescope on a ancient wooden tripod. I think it was from the early 1800s

Sorry for the blah blah blah but I actually thought about making my own cases with large vented screens across the back and easy access to the back. I dislike the bevels on the originals, looks like a shoe drawer :evil4:. Squared off ends would look much better anyway (IMO of course). I would do the spray coats necessary for the piano gloss type finish also. These would also look sick piano black using hard rock maple!!!
