Swapped it in, Sally had tears in her meters....

I have Van Halen I in (CD) and it sounds great so far, very similiar to the 400s. Going to give it the gas (henfest is in session in the kitchen now) later on but I have it up near what I listen to the 400 (normal listening level where you can still talk and hear eachother) at. It sounds a bit odd in the midrange (almost like it fades in and out quickly, nothing bad, just different. I think perhaps I am just used to Sally and Blackie??? So far I like what I am hearing very much. Every bit as clean as the 400s and now I am fukked... I know I will be wanting one even if it's not a FC

It really won't come into it's own till it's been plugged in for 48 hours. Don't turn the power off for two days, what a difference...

Will do Lee. Man I wish all these bitches would leave so I can pour the coals on LMAO. An hour or so at low level should get it warmed up nicely

I always thought that would be enough too, but do the 2 day thing..

That's not what I meant Lee, I will leave it on for sure. I was referring to the fact that it's cold as an icecube and running it at low level for a few hours will bring it up to ambient room temp nicely. The amp is looking apprehensively at me, I think it knows my reputation. I am dragging the Altec VOT's out, I picked them up day before yesterday because my neighbor wants to use them for his outdoor get together :evil4:

I think the Altec's have it covered easily Lee, man they are ugly though, the wife was like "where do you plan to keep those because the house is out!!!!"

I just went over to see if he is home, the VOT's are in his garage so I will have to bring the amp over there later

These are the A8's, I have a set of the A7-500 8's up at my sisters house in storage, I would prefer them to try but 250 miles away is a bit to far to drive with one bad strut still

Just went over there to see if he had time to destroy the neighborhood but he packed them up in his buddies pickup yesterday to bring down to where they rented an area for the party. Maybe in a few days then. The CV's will have to do for now but I have the Infinity SM-120's in the garage if I feel like melting some VC's. We will see if the 12" Pioneer woofs are really any good eh?

FINALLY they are gone and it's mighty loud in here LOL. Listening to G3 w/ Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Eric Johnson. Very nice indeed!

Whoa, just took out the 4A fastblo fuse in the right Vega. CV wants 2.5Amp Slow Blow 2AG fuses in them but I have been running 4A fastblo's in them for the 400. Another fuse in and back up and running

IS running the 4A fastblo's ok? I figure they will trip faster then a lower amp sloblo type... I am assuming it's just transients and not just too much power

WassupYa Mang?
You're in uncharted territory, bro

I have 5A fuses in my D9's but yeah take it up 1A at a time. The DCP's in these wopls do a damn fine job protecting.

I can't go all the way, or my ears will lose it big time.

I've been sleepin you've been rockin!!!
Surprised you can't hear it, open your window LOL

ANYWAY...

Trying to compare the 400 to the 700B is sort of fruitless. I could go through the corksniffer approach and test different speakers and music sources but in the end it will come down to this

I give the nod to the 400 just barely for overall sweetness of sound and soundstage so far but I think that is the FC talking there. The 700B has the headroom in it's favor indeed as well as what I believe to hear is a slightly fuller bottomend. It also has twice the power so no competition there. With the FC setup, it will shine just as bright as the FC 400s in sound as Lee has already raved about. I love them both, best damn amps on the planet

This amp just whispered to me that she likes it here and wants to stay, she's tired of being shipped around like a mailorder bride and she digs dudes with longhair that play Explorer's and drink Dr Pepper

You running fastblo's Jer? I think 4A is the limit for these 300w E-712's. The D9's with a 400w rating can handle a little more amperage me thinks. Sally trips the internals fairly frequently but never blew the main speaker fuse. Then again, I never just took the preamp volume knob and hammered like I just did

Porn shot, Sally is PISSED at me LOL. Sorry, I can't take glamour shots like Nando can with this lighting, you just get to see the meat and potatoes below

Jason, I scraped some of your DNA off the amp and am in the process of cloning you in the garage
