Did a bit of fiddling about with the stereo today, and as it currently stands using the 2x Sonics 800x setup with an active Crown x-over and pairing up just the JBL 4408 (rolled off at 100Hz) and JBL 15" sub, managed to get to 112dB @ 3 metres for 30 minutes.
It's not bad, but a bit short on wot I was hoping, but then, they're only small speakers.
I'll let it sit at that for a while.

So it's back to my normal 70dB listening levels now and still extremely well balanced and very nice.

Only problem with running my listening 'tests' today was that all the amps and electronics sitting on top of the sub nearly vibrated clean off which I wasn't aware of until much later when adding an attenuator before the x-over.
That would have been a major disaster had it happened.

All in all, a most pleasurable experience.

Anyway, hopefully I've pissed off the building, and I'm sure there'll be a letter from management coming soon enough.

everything from zz top to james gang, to deep purple. some al di meola, and billy idol, and simple minds, tears for fears, and even lady gaga and ellie goulding, and i can't remember wot else.
it made a nice change.

all that stuff about Lee and his WIMPLE's got me enthusiastic, albeit for a little time, so i thought i'd put together something for the occasion. i had a mate over to share the event, and even had a DRINK! :-o

Not to worry, I know when my chain is being jerked, you Aussies are nuts anyway, so I just chalk it up to where ya came from!!

Not motivated at all Lee, might actually get out of the house tomorrow. But I'm sure enjoying the tunes right now with my vinyl collection on Random @ 24/96
 
Wish you guys could have been at Tim's the other day, 10 hours of flat out music and sonic heaven. Gonna break Kev's K's outta the storage shed and fill in the other 2 corners at Tim's and see what an all 4 corners thing will do to standing wave propagation--------should be a blast, and an added bonus----Kev will not have to go through that arduous task of "breaking in " his K's, we will graciously tackle that project, snicker, snicker...the Pig made me do it, he's getting tedious...
