I used to have one. It was a garage sale rescue, and I had to traverse the entire length of a VERY wet, nasty basement to grab it. Of course, it was DOA, and I eventually gave it to another audiophile.
It didn't seem like you had to even bring out the soldering iron for this one, Lee. Russ has a very nice looking Marantz preamp. I see the odd one pop up at Innovative Audio, but they don't last long on the sales shelf.

They make nicely styled gear. Not as good technically as when they started out but still pretty good. I don't know why they insist on ruining the faceplates by putting the 4 small c'sunk holes in the corners. Takes an otherwise great looking faceplate and messes it up.
I see Marantz gear for sale at the fleamarket every weekend when it's open. I avoid it like the plague for the most part because you can't test anything and if it's in the fleamarket, you can bet somethings wrong with the units or they would have been already sold on eBay. Would love to find one of the 500w amps though with the big meters
Johan had several and sold them in favor of the 700B which has authority compared to the 510. They look nice but are evidently not up to what the 700B can do.

Yeah , he sent a bunch of pics of the ones he had they were pretty, and yep he said they wouldn't hold a candle to the 700's. He also convinced a friend of the same thing and is now in the process of getting rid of those and finding a couple 700's to replace those.
