The PL 3000 Pre-Amp, I've got it back from Rolland Barr, he gave it the complete rebuild, good as new total cost with shipping just under $1,000. I've been very busy with work and it's been several years since I've unpacked my PL equipment since purchasing a house. Just purchased another PL-300 II to add to the collection. Need to go back into the PL 400 II to see why it's squealing, did an upgrade on main caps and after move it just sat there. An anyrate, will p ost pictures of PL equipment as I get it unpacked and setup. CHEERS!
You got lucky with the open 2.7k resistors. When they fail the amp usually dumps DC into the speakers. Also the feedback cap and several of the display caps are failure prone.
I've got a drop in relay board to protect speakers against amplifier failure. It bolts on to the binding post so no drilling required. You can see more details on EBAY. Don't buy it there. I have to add in the various EBAY fees.
