Yamaha has a very distinct sound for their amps that I like. I bought the Rotel that I liked he bought a Yamaha. I liked listening to it. Nice sound for a SS.

I have a Yamaha CA-800 integrated amplifier I picked up some time ago at our local mini flea market. I paid the usual $25. I didn't even realize that this particular amp is Class A configured, until I downloaded the OM in pdf a few weeks back.

Nando, is that the one that stays in class A till about 15watts then switches to A/B? But with a button on the front or the back to keep it in class A regardless?

I really love my big MX-800U, a true beast with a nice warm tone, not many amps are rated to safely handle a 1 ohm load

Here's a few pictures of my Yamaha CA-800 integrated amplifier. I'll see about powering it up in Class A mode, stuwee. I guess I'll find out soon enough how it performs. I'm really interested in the phono stage, as it has some unique features not found on other integrated amplifiers of this vintage.
