I added most of the rest of my archives and since then with at least some of the files it just CLOSES or gives me the i'm a lame ass and have to close diatribe. Sometimes Dr. Watson shows up drunk after that.

What strain of syphilis is THIS?

PS It shuts down Word Perfect as well, anything using WE at that point.

PPS I have been scanning.

Try googling the problem, could be some installed third party software. Read up here:

http://www.helpwithwindows.com/techfiles/explorer-crashes.html

I would first check for a virus or spyware, with Malwarebytes, spybot and or Advanced system care.

If it started recently you could use system restore to get back to a point where it isn't causing problems, or do a windows system repair with your installation disc.

Also boot up in safe mode to see if one of your devices or device drivers is causing the problems.

Try disconnecting you drives one at a time and then booting, you only need your primary hd to boot, any secondary hd's or all optical drives should be disconnected, Ide cables and devices can cause win explorer issues. Two optical and two hd's configured as master/slaves is just asking for trouble.

Also I would create a new user profile and log into that one and see if Win Explorer will work.

I still have that Windows Explorer problem though. I can be looking though files and sometime the same folder and it will just go bam. I've scanned folders...I just get the idea that they are either not registering right or WE has an issue. Sometimes it takes a while to maximize and the thumbnails fill in at random, like a checkerboard. Some thumbnails are smaller than others.

Well google is your friend. Google windows explorer problems specifically what your issues are and then try the recommended solutions one by one and hopefully if you are feeling lucky you will find the problem.

Disabling some of the keyboard shortcuts might also help.

God do I accidentally seem to do that, hit something inadvertantly due to my bad typing skills.

I rolled IE8 back and that helped some, no such troubles right now.
