Neil over at Club Polk had a nasty moment, he apparently turned on his amp first then his tube pre next with very bad results  , he had a great attitude about the whole situ tho, so kudo's to him :thumbright: , he has a backup pair to source the drivers he fried...

I think the problem was the pre hadn't warmed up yet and sent some serious DC thru the amp into the speaks

It's a great pic tho!

Those Polks can now be referred to as "Pokes", as in speaker magnets poking out. What's the reason for the speakers frying? Was it the gain on the tube preamplifier being high, or this could happen in any tube preamp combination? I'm suddenly leery of trying my integrated tube amp, even with entry model speakers.

Nando.

You know guys , I'm not really sure, I think it was a combination of errors, the Polks tweeters have a series of resitor caps that saved them, the woofers were naked to the DC current, the amp must not have had any protection from the DC to the speaker...the good thing is it didn't fry any crossover stuff!!

Crossover stuff is cheap, compared to drivers.
