And AK'er from Mankato gifted me a Yamaha PF-800 with a Grado black cart.Another AK'r sent me a Denon DL-160 for trade on some repair work.Put a new belt on the TT and cleaned her up a bit.Still need to apply some dampening fluid to the tonearm Q'ing cylinder. Got the DL-160 installed and soon to have a kick ass granite table for it to set on..

Those big Yamaha's are lookers, Have FF pick you up a Grado Gold replacement stylus for your Black at the Needle Doc in MPLS, and bring it when he picks up th M-80, much better sound. I can't wait to see that granite plinth your making, gonna be really sharp, you'll make alot of folks jealous with that baby!

It's good to see another turntable given a new lease on life. Although, I haven't used the Denon DL-160 it does seem to be highly regarded amongst other cartridges in its price range. You'll have to give us some feedback once it's ready to spin some classic rock LPs.

What IS the best MM cart for the money right now? I'm still using the Audio Technica AT120E, but that is based on my listening back pre CDP times. I have Shure, Stanton, and others, but based on internet surfing reviews, I just stuck with the AT cart. Been thinking maybe Ortofon Red, but don't know...

I have a Music Hall MMF 2.2 table now with the acrylic platter upgrade. In the early eighties I had a Luxman that I loved, but it just started spinning at 1000 rpm, so I don't know what ever happened to it, or if I could get it fixed...

On one of my other TT's.A Yamaha P-750 I've been using a Shure V15 Type V for over 25 years now.
I've been using a V15 IV for about 5 years now, most of the nice arms from the late 70s and early 80s were designed for the better Shure's in mind. Kind of pricey, but a damn nice cart IMHO. I paid $250 for mine with a NOS HE stylus, worth every penny.

Is that an articulated arm? How is it working out. I gave a my son a zero, he hasn't had any trouble with it, I know a lot of people have.
