Started in household appliances repair being my own boss, didn't earned a lot since cheap Chinese made crap just appeared here in France back then, also the huge amount of administrative work didn't helped too (a French specialty).
Done a few vintage hifi restoration too (mostly cassette deck), then went into a 6 month training course for being refrigeration and air conditioning tech.
Then found job in HVAC/R maintenance, commissioning and installation.
Was cleaning filters and installing pipes first, now I do commissioning and troubleshooting in large air to water heat pumps and VRF systems, will be ten years in 26, still in the same company.
For pictures it's too hard to decide, my phone is full of bad installations pictures and units nameplates.

On and on. About 15 years in each and I cant tell you how much I enjoyed both. I know, one hell of a stretch between trades but quit Jewelry work and went to doing VSAT and loved it. Bu the way this may seem like you need a huge brain to do this kinda work. Not really, not what I did. Lifted a shitload of concrete blocks up to the roofs of the buildings and steel to build the mounts with the antennas. Ran a SHITLOAD of cable! Some computer work of course for the interface/ Indoor unit programming and using a spec. a to point them. Mostly dumb work untill you went to a Ford Dealership to work on a "Distance Learning Center" Then oh my!

State licensed/Registered EE. Did power systems, fire protection systems and facility operations at NASA Stennis for 25 years until my recent retirement. Prior work about 10 years in industrial manufacturing. During college worked with electronics R & D. Attended college nights and weekends for what seemed like eternity...

Electrical engineer by degree (communications and solid state). My first job was with Motorola, licensing and designing the first cellphome systems on the planet, and then I ended up as a seior engineer in data storage, and backed waaaay down to a sysadmin job at my hometown university as I near retirement. (Didn't need the travel or stress). I also run a small pro audio and lighting business on the side. (*NOT* DJ! Imhave about 10,000 watts of PA, and a moving light rig, truss, CM Lodestar's, etc . . . I can do a steel down rig most anywhere . . . ). PA is Older Crest amps (7001 and 9001), EAW mains (KF Series), and Radian Microwedges for monitors, bi-amp on the wedges tri-amp (actually 4 way - mid/high is passive crossed) on the mains, and a 32x8 Soundcraft desk. Repaired everythins at the component level, and designed a number of custom items.

The Phase's are my "small" amps for home . . . :-) (Some Crown D-75A's are the "really small" ones . . . one drives my Stax headphones)

NASA Stennis
My dad was part of the US Army Corp of Engineers group that oversaw contracted construction at Stennis, before it was Stennis in 65-66 during the space race. I think he was working on a huge vacuum chamber, not sure. But the reason he was there was because the US Air Force did not have construction engineers for such projects. This was his second duty station wrt the space race, having completed a year or so at Arnold Engineering and Development Center (now Complex) in Tullahoma, TN. That was an interesting tour, ballistics, subsonic and supersonic wind tunnels, jet engine testing and more that I’d need to look up, it was a few years ago. We were part of the first group to move into the base housing near AEDC. I don’t recall seeing Stennis as we lived in Pass Christian, MS to be near the beach instead of 30 miles away. Us kids growing up, needing places to play. The house we lived in is just a slab ever since Katrina wiped it off the face of the earth.

Shit Kicker

5 years in a call centre sending messages to pagers
5 years taxi driving (got locked up in mental ward once)
5 years working graveyard shift in a gas station
10 years as a field technician fixing pokies and betting equipment. travelled most of the state with a fridge/freezer, agm battery, and butane stove. Some places were as hot as 47 celcius. Saw a lot of good stuff.
Lost job due to illness, didnt want to lose it, so here I am.

So that’s why the WOPLs are so good

Tim, I bought an old set of EAW 18's from a church! Don't even know if they work. Have not hooked them up yet. I was thinking of using them with the active set up I am contemplating with the Ashley XR-2001 I got from Lee. Probably overkill but hell, can you ever have too much bass? LOL.

Liked and disliked (Katrina) Worked down there two weeks after it happened. I think I still have a little PTSD because of it. So, liked the post and hated what Katrina did. I have always thought about and wondered how anyone could build such machines. Supersonic Wind Tunnels! Far the fuck out!

Jiffy Lube then Autozone, then events hosting, now commercial property management with hosting occasional tango dances. I have an associates in electrical trades so I can sorta bend conduit. My electronics knowledge has all been trial and error.......
Love it! Same here! LOL! "My electronics knowledge has all been trial and error......."
