So, listening to Frank Marino this morning, no processing at all with the needles just touching 0bd for about 10 minutes and then the lights on the meter panels went out and no sound though the needles were still swinging. Shut it right off, Lee I am going to need a set of fans if/when you can. That clipon fan in back is not cutting it. Should I take the covers off that go over the silver power thinges also to facilitate better cooling? First time this has happened since I've had the amp

No smoke Steve, amp is running fine, just the heat protections kicked in. Gotta cool this bad boy righteously. Not much sense having this much power if you can't use it. Gotta get the fan setup that Lee makes for these, will definitely need one for the new full comp build also that Jer is currently working on. I doublechecked the spec on my CV E-712s and they definitely are 8ohm. I don't think I was pushing much over 100w at that point and it was only for about 10 minutes

Damn Ron you better back off that thing a bit I do still want to hear it someday lol.
I'm not worried Jason, I was barely tapping the power this monster has. Just have to work on the cooling. My system is in the livingroom where the woodstove is so it gets hot in here pretty quick. Blowing hot air on a hot amp equals fail regardless and I believe my meters are off calibration

Put it this way, it was almost as loud as any bar show I have been to and crystal clear and I probably still have almost 2/3 power in reserve, your gonna smile when you hear one of these

Did you ever see Big Sugar in the 90's?

Do you have the amp in a stand/cabinet? More fans wont do much if there is no where for the air to go. A cooler location would likely help too.

I never put an amp in a cabinet. Mine sit on top with open air around them. I also NEVER stack amps on eachother

Nope, never heard of Big Sugar. I have played in plenty of bars though, started at 15 and it was never a big deal to be underage playing in a bar like it is today. I would just say I was 18 LOL, I already could grow a beard then and always had a mustache. I was also buying beer and liquor at stores back then, never got carded

Man I gotta get some Big Sugar your way. They kick shit. Also probably one of the loudest bands Ive ever seen.

With the wood stove belting out the heat it may be cooler closer to the floor.

Cool! I am always willing to check out good music I have not heard! As for putting the amp on the floor or close to the floor, that's not an option at this time. My entertainment stand that I use is 4ft high, the amp will not fit in it anyway because of the rack mounts, it's too wide by a 1/2"

I used to have a doubleneck SG just like that one!!!!!!

They are good man, I dig them. We used to put dummy heads up like that also, no way you could run all those Marshalls though it does look impressive. I had 4 of them but only used 1 100w one with two cabs. They are mic'd into the PA using SM-58s. Yngwie always has a wall of heads but also only uses one or two, the rest are just for show. Judas Priest, same thing

I spoke to the guitar tech when I seen them live. Apparently those were all livened up. Of course he was only using 4 when I saw them. My ears rang for over a week after that show. Ill keep my eye out for a couple of their cd's when im out hunting.

-2°...set that amp in the window like an air conditioner and put the fan outside blowing on the sinks. You will have the beauty of the meters inside and a nice cool amp outside.
