TT and Tonearm Maint.

OK I asked in another thread. The bearing that needs to be oiled is the spindle bearing? Also on the Tonearm how do I tell if it uses oil? Instead of oil can i use Teflon? I would like to check the height of the arm. It seems like the platter doesn't just lift off. I have the table owners manual. It only says about the installation. Using a ribbon to put the belt on. Can I just pull the sorbothane mat off of the platter?
