To flux or not to flux?

It was my first time today with flux, in my limited training it was said there is enough flux in solder for the job....... Today I believe I learnt otherwise!
What are your preferences when soldering new boards (White Oak board's especially) and when reworking old boards?

Use the recommended Kester on the boards with no additional flux.
I do use additional rosin flux on the copper bus bar.
You'll need additional chemicals for cleaning the boards, I use rubbing alcohol, toothbrush, and a shortened acid brush.

You can't solder SMDs at all without it. I avoided it and learned to love it. Joints come out cleaner and flow better.

Just be sure to clean it all off when you're done.

Kester 245, none better that I have encountered yet.

Wets easily, solders well, shiny joints, cleans easily (it is no clean but most clean anyway)
