This is huge news. He was a real genius. He helped develop ARPAnet and Telnet protocols and then intranet and internet message protocols, then he came up with the @ that separated the user and the host, i.e. user@junkmail.com (not a real address I would hope). I would think he was one of the top 10 internet engineers of all time.
