The former hospital where I was born burned down last night...

It had been converted to an elderly care facility in later years but the owners lost their accreditation and it closed, nobody would die there, much less be born there again. The hospital was not far from the local Catholic Church, and I gather maybe named for the Sisters Of Mercy(?)

It was built in the same style as the nearby church, as was our town's Holy Rosary in 1911, although remodeling from the 80s on completely transformed the outside, and the surviving parts of the current hospital are mainly the 3 floors and basement levels and the 1950 chapel addition (all united by a single exterior design now). Holy Rosary Hospital/Medical Center is now Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center Ontario as part of the Boise hospital's network.

I never did see the hospital again in my later years and have no memories of Old Mercy to the age of three when it was replaced. I will have to search the internet for pictures of the interior.

Geez... I thought you were older then me and here it is the other way around LOL

I don't seem to have the same attachment to the one I was born in....

It was the better part of town too.

Mercy AFTER.jpg

This morning, anyway.

Hey, my first apartment that was down the road from here was torn down a few years ago too...

Not like I have anyone to show my legacy to.

But hey, have we all died? It's the last week of the regular NFL season and the games are on!
