That's what was so beautiful about it.

Evidently Nak owners say the same thing. :cyclops:
Haha! I've yet to hear one of these beasts, Braxus, aka 'Scott' has one and a lovely Aiwa XK-S 9000 which I have and fell in love with, when you get to this level in cassette recording and playback, it's all about the tactile feel and the looks of the rig, seriously...I doubt any of us could name that deck in a shootout. The Dragon will always be the top in the unwashed public eye. Put Nando's Esoteric, Tasuke's big Pioneer, the Tandberg and Aiwa, even my tape munching Teac V-8000S and I bet most of us could not tell the diff. with a nice type II tape like the metal impregnated Denon HD-8, or the Phoenix one for that matter :D , speaking of Denon, they made some great decks, love, love, my DN-790R (Jer bought one after fixing mine).

It has about 97% of the sound of the big guys at the expence of being a cheap, poorly built, slightly above BPC from the time.

Not trashing the tandberg, I'd love to have one, I just don't have the space for it :cyclops:

Yes I have one of these decks. That's a killer price for one of these decks, refurbed or not. I don't particularly trust Soundsmith and their services to be honest. They could potentially ruin one of these decks with their workover. I have since sold that Aiwa 9000 deck. It just wasn't up to the standards of the Tandberg or even my two Sony decks. The Aiwa was replaced by a Pioneer CT-93, which was then replaced by a Sony TC-KA7ES. I'm happy with the new Sony so far, but it still needs a little work.
