Bit of an update for all.
Finally have the Supravox field coils going along with the Bumblebee type 50 amps

First impressions are very promising.
The Baffles are the JE labs design (very poorly implemented and as rough as guts) but they
work as a test bed. Sorry for my piss poor photography skills as usual.

Ah Sorry,
Larry knows about these but I have not really posted anything on the site about the new kit.
I brought the Supravox 215-2000 EXC field coil drivers from a guy in Western Australia a year or so ago.
These drivers are wide range 50-15K flat and with the field coils at 12V are nearly 100 db efficient. This
means my 2.5 watt type 50 amps drive them LOUD. I mounted them in JE Labs style open baffles and the
sound quality has surpassed my wildest expectations. All this with very little effort and a relatively small
investment given the results.
It is also the first run with my Type 50 amps. I had gathered all the parts to build an identical stereo amp
but these pair of mono blocks surprisingly came up for sale. I knew the seller and also knew well the guy
that actually built them, so I had the full history. These are special, with the right tubes in it, the sound is
just sublime. The RCA 50's from the 1930's were probably the best American made triode ever made. The
driver tubes I will eventually use are Mullard brown base ECC32 again one of the very best triode driver tubes.
Power supply is valve regulated using a U52 rectifier. Power transfomers chokes and output transfers are
handmade by a guy in Sydney that has now retired so they are now unobtanium. I have worked long and hard
for this gear but I am getting closer and closer to my audio Nirvana :)
