Anybody have one of these? I asked for this one for Christmas from my Mom the year they were sold through, I think, Sharper Image. I can't remember what they cost, but mine has never been out of the box. Sadly, I'll bet the belts are gone...melted into a gooey mess. Whould I try to repalce them? Everything is as it was shipped, but the actual silver Walkman is not in a bag or anything. What do you think, should I try to open the unit and replace the belts?

Maybe if you weren't hunched over the keyboard with those ciggie ashes dropping everywhere you wouldn't have that problem

Nobody has really figured out what this is yet, so I'll tell ya.

It is the Silver 10th Anniversary Walkman.

Only 2000 were made, and this on is still in the box. I think they sell from $750.00 up to $1,000.00 in pristine condition.....which I think this one is.

Now, what should I do? Try to replace the belts, or just leave as it? Maybe worth more totally untouched? I just don't know what to do with this baby...

I have never had a tape in it, and never cleaned it. I noticed in the pictures that it looks like it is scratched from cleaning, but I have owned it since new, and it's never even been cleaned. Must have come with a somewhat "brushed" finish..I think, cause it's even inside the engraving...I may just leave it as is...and never know. Let whoever inherites it figure out what to do with it. The only one I've seen was just sold on eBay for $601.00, and looked to be in pretty good condition..not quite as good as this one, but very nice. I read on the net about a guy who bought one for $20.00, so I guess you never know....but I just wondered if anyone had any experience with one of these..Thanks for your advice Larry..

Wow Sutton, I didn't notice that. I'd put it up on ebay with a reserve of $500, then if you wanted a working walkman, you could wait for one that works for a fifth of that price and invest the rest in some new fun gear. It's no good just sitting there looking pretty, and you'll decrease the value if you mess with it. It's worth top dollar to a collector in it's current condition. Just my 2 nickels.

I'd put her on the bay just like she is. Let the next guy put belts on her. I doubt anyone who paid that much is gonna use it anyway. Like Stuwee says just leave it, you will probably devalue it by messing with it.
