Hello,
I am selling a Phase Linear 700B amplifier with wood sleeve. I am asking $750.
It is in excellent cosmetic condition, no damage to the faceplate front, edges, knobs, handles. Inside it appears to be all original. The output devices are all correct RCA parts (per the service manual/schematic). I tested it with cheap test speakers and it sounds fine (limited by the speakers). Offsets measured at the speaker terminals are -3.8mV and +6.7mV. A few lamps in the VU meters are out.
Here is a brief video of the amp being tested with the matching Phase Linear 4000 (also for sale):
Note that this amplifier is around 50 years old, and appears to have original components.* If I were keeping it I would replace at the very least all the electrolytics capacitors, as well as adding a speaker protection module. Since I am not keeping it, and since it is so original and lovely, I would prefer to leave those decisions to the next owner.
The 700B is very heavy and incredibly awkward to handle, so I am only interested in selling locally at the moment. I am near Seattle, but would be willing to meet a buyer half way if they are within a few hours driving distance.
I am a new member here, but was made aware of this forum by members at AudioKarma where I am a member (crv00). Please feel free to ask any questions you might have. Thanks.
* Note that as @Vintage 700b points out below, the outputs may have been worked on in the past as evidenced by the thermal insulator pads (vs mica/paste). The RCA devices in the photos are named in the in the service bulletin (last pages of service manual) however.
