Hello,
I am selling a Phase Linear 4000 amplifier with wood sleeve. I am asking $450.
It is in excellent cosmetic condition, no damage to the faceplate front, edges, knobs, handles. The wood sleeve is in nice shape but does have a veneer chip at the back edge of the top face. Inside it appears to be all original. I tested it with the matching Phase Linear 700B I am also selling. It wasn't an exhaustive test (did not test phono inputs, tape loop, processor loop, etc.) but it was producing sound through both channels, the volume, balance/fade (joystick), -20db muting, worked. Some controls including the volume were scratchy, so the pots could benefit from Deoxit F5.
Here is a brief video of the preamp being tested with the 700B:
Note that this preamplifier is around 50 years old, and appears to have all original components. If I were keeping it I would replace at the very least all the electrolytics capacitors, and clean all the pots and switches. Since I am not keeping it, and since it is so original and lovely, I would prefer to leave those decisions to the next owner.
I am located near Seattle and would prefer a local sale, but would consider shipping. The 700B on the other hand I going to try to avoid shipping if at all possible.
