Snell Type A

Anyone happen to know if the Snell Type A woofer is wired out of phase with the binding posts on the cabinet? I know, a real long shot asking this but have to try. Lots of knowledge here.

I can tell you this. I have done a lot of searching on the giggle and have found nothing but one hand drawn woofer cabinet section drawing and that was for and Type A1.

Out of phase wiring to a specific driver would make me yhink the crossover was not well designed...

Try it both ways, what sounds right is right..

The Type A1 drawing shows the woofer cab wired in phase with the binding posts. When I took these apart they had replaced the woofers with correct Atomic High Fi woofers it seems however they were barely screwed in, some screws even missing and one of the wires to the woofer... barely soldered to the woofer terminal and the other one stuck through the HOLE in the connector on the woofer on BOTH cabinets.... Here is a picture of the UPPER cabinet (a tweeter and a midrange only up there) crossover network. I think I counted 35 capacitors. Yes, I am the purveyor of lost causes.

Yes. No pictures of them yet. Buried in insulation.

I don’t know about the technicalities but the C4 sounded good to me when it was new.
