Woof!! As a dog lover my entire life, I've always known this. They rely on scent as well, we don't notice it as much but, they can pick up on the very subtle persperation q's, when we are upset, happy or sad, 'we' scent. Dogs pick up on all of that, truly amazing! They can smell cancer in someone.

My Katie girl can tell when I have a seizure coming on before I have my 'pre feeling', she ran to John numerous times and alerts him. And with no formal training, she just senses these things. She has a few habits that annoy me (licking the couch before she lays down). I snap at her and she goes and pouts. of course, I very quickly speak in a true soothing tone and send her mental pictures (this is very important, dogs understand mental images) of good times and she responds, tail wagging.
