Hey there all,

Been a bit. Got the whole bench revamped and restocked enough to start restoring a few pieces of gear that's been dusted off. Nice to be having some room to work, where truth be told the WOPL's in the past all were constructed on a 2 x 2 subwoofer with a towel on top for scratch protection. o_O

Last I recall on this AU-517 tone / line driver board there was a good 60 hz hum, and I think it took out my 700 WOPL that needs attention as well. I found a questionable trace repair on the back. After that, went with a full combo of muse and Nichi FG caps that tested out of the chassis at about .008 THD with a decent frequency sweep. Good solid signal L/R.

But dang if I didn't get hit with the dreaded ALPS unobtanium pot issue. Got the channel imbalance I'm seeing narrowed right to this component, and wow that sure is an imbalance where one channel reads 142K across the wafer and the other.. 98.5K holy moly that's sure going to be noticeable.

From what I heard these pots are both special and scarce. Loudness taps as well to consider. Wondering ... toss or ? Might get back on the WOPL next, but I have a Marantz coming in for a flaky left channel and a Toonah tweaking.

But I also see a 100K one over at Parts Xpress. No loudness tap... 50K that's a big difference. I don't want to be changing the sound up too much here. Options?
