Legendary Levon Helm of the Band died yesterday, finally succumbed to the throat cancer that has been plaguing him for years.
I had the good fortune to see him with his original The Band members in the early 70s at New Paltz NY. Phenomenal show. Recently I have traveled to Woodstock NY to see him on 2 occasions with his current band. A true pleasure and outstanding music.
Now there are 3 down, Richard Manuel, Rick Danko and Levon. Remaining living members Garth Hudson and Robbie Robertson are points unknown although have heard rumors of Robbie in LA these days.
Levon will be missed.
