Kevin Cronin is a member of one of my guitar boards and let us know that Gary had passed away. He was one of the reasons I picked up guitar as a pre teen

Broken beyond repair but highly affable

Dear God, now we truly ARE getting old. I saw them in about the mid 2000s with Styx (no DeYoung) and Journey (Phillipino lead singer) and after Kevin's surgery that forever messed up his voice.

And no Richrath since 1989 too, I read. But when you listen to Hi Infidelity you can't escape him, the guitar work on Take It On The Run never leaves your mind.

The first REO was always my fav, 157 riverside, Lay Me Down.....great album. Through the years Lutrelle left, and Cronin came and went, and came back, were some pretty good albums too. Ridin The Storm Out and II to name a couple, all had great guitar riffs.

Sad to hear about Gary R.. A few of the REO Speedwagon LPs and pre-recorded cassettes I have are from the 80's, beginning with "Hi Infidelity."

Nando.
