If I can manage to trade for this chassis: http://www.tapeheads.net/showthread.php?p=407088 can I get some help to fix it?

Cosmetics are not my biggest concern and I think I have enough to trade straight across and possibly for shipping as well, he's offering it as a parts unit but one with a lot going for it despite the stated damage.

It looks like I could make a straight trade...do you think it could be made to work again?

I think the deck would be good for parts, but I am not sure you could align the pinch rollers even if you were able to straighten them. If they are off even a little it could lead to tape skewing or even tape eating.

I think I know where I could get parts...care to venture?

At any rate, it's going to be a straight across trade and if somebody wants to lend a hand, chime in and it'll skip a trip.

Seriously. There are others that could donate part to it...I think it's worth the effort. Why?

I like the silver stuff. And I like cassette decks period, at this point in life I'd like to have some better things and I have never minded the challenge too much (despite the kvetching, you have to focus that way).

But I'm gonna kill something, like the buzzard says on the old poster.

Oh well.

If you recall I spent over $300 to fix a $5 turntable...I would hope this is a worthwhile thing.

If you have a working one guaranteed coming, why bother and create a needless bill

Yeah I agree if you have a working one on the way why even bother with a basket case, unless you want a project to work on?

I thought it was a 900.

If I knew for certain it was a 950 I wouldn't even mess with this and I'm trying to do more things than I can do at once and getting no comunnications from the people here who are SUPPOSED TO be communicating as they are my WORKERS.

I had a bad nap and had a messed up back and some other problems as soon as I got up and it took I don't know how long to finallt find out about the stuff that got left in my worker's truck when he took off and maybe he forgot I had t0 get them still and were there pereishable groceries in that stuff? If I got fish sticks they were $5 and they are TOAST as I never found them.

Not trying piss anybody off, when you told me I was geting it some month back it was a 900 and it became a 950 at some point and I've never really gotten that figured out.

I'm trying to get a bunch of things done so that my BIL can go straight to helping me get stuff gone and not get sidetracked as he only has so much time and has to get back to my sister and the kids and go to work again and I have to do the other stuff myself this month. I'm not truing to piss anybody off and I know you have snow and work and I thought it was a 900.

I'm sorry.

i told them I didn't think I needed the chassis.

I'm really overwhelmed here. I can go back and find the 900 references but I'm still not sleeping enough and wiped out. I hate spending hours searching my damned email and then not having my files directly on hand otherwise right here and having to go search the other one.

Trying to find a needle in dozens of New Private Message From Phoenix Audio Community Forums or ...Tapeheads email without a topic or sender reference is nuts and at least other forums programs give me some clues or I have to subfolder the folder by sender. I archive the PMs in text form from here and TH too but that's also a chore to scan.

And it was a straight trade, only a box of some reel tapes involved. But if I don't need it, that's fine. I just haven't seen it well enough to tell what it was.

I may have to go make a couple trip on my bike before dark if I'm going to get all my food today...sigh. I sit here waiting for a call because if I go out on my bike and try to find somebody they tell me they came and missed me, it's silly when you are pragmatic.

He said he thinks he found the parts to fix it and use it...I said that was great and he should but if he ever gets tired of it to let me know first, the orphanage is always open.

I hope he gets it going for himself.
