Remind You of Anyone???

Nope. They were a buck cheaper than cassettes when I was a teen.

I would not buy the cassette. I would buy the album and then make my own cassettes. I assumed everyone did this. Then I could play the tape in my car, or on my Walkman and could always make a new copy if I needed to. Man, did I go through a bunch of Maxell Metal cassettes...

For years, the shops I worked at had displays of cassette tapes at the tills and a lot of people bought them as they paid for their albums. But then they started getting hit with a $2 per tape surcharge that was supposed to be compensation for the artists because they were not getting any revenue for unauthoried copying. I was in a Staple's store recently and saw a bowl of cheap SD cards at the till. Even though they don't sell recorded music, it made me think it was a 21'st century equivalent.

You had good, no, excellent taste in cassettes. I used mostly TDK AD and SA tapes, though I hugely respected the Maxells. Ya, I made lots of tapes from LP's back in the day, but never made money off them - sorry, RIAA, you can't sue me.

I tried them all back in the day, but settled on the Maxell Metal tapes. Some looked different than this however, so there must have been different variations. I also usually bought the 90 minute ones, as you could usually get a whole album on each side of the tape. I did use some TDKs, some Sonys, and others, but always came back to the Maxells. It is pretty funny how everything comes full circle. I'm just getting back into vinyl, and own several cassette decks....so I guess I'll be making tapes again real soon...I use to think a good tape sounded better than the LP...

Yep, me two except I used TDK in the late 70s/early 80s and they went into my giant Sharp ghetto blaster LMAO
