Re: Recent article about Bob Pease of Natlional Semi

How sad is it that Bob Pease died on the way home from Jim Williams' funeral. Jim died of a stroke on June 12, 2011. Williams was an MIT guy who wrote over 350 publications on analog circuit design.

Pease was also a graduate of MIT and worked at NS on the Saturday that he died, he was 70 years old. The Williams funeral was in the hills and Pease's 1969 VW Beetle went off the road. Pease designed more than 20 ICs and held 21 patents. He was one of the few engineers who really understood tubes and solid state. Instead of the typical thinking about frequency, Pease thought about things in relation to time. This helped designers and engineers to understand board-level problems easier because it was more common for most people to use a oscilloscope than a spectrum or network analyzer to understand the ringing of a square wave in the component.
