My Altec Lansing Model Three cabs have been there.

Originally they were going to have 10s and ring tweeters from another Altec, saved from a garage fire (Coronas).

One of the rings died and after looking around I found

JENSENS (1960s paper cone tweeters):

The hole to be modified:

The new domed Jensen:

Now the messed up parts (the crossovers and the details)

The crossovers have have their share of hazards over the years but what did the biggest damage was the second day in a year the police had to run gangsters out of the apartments across the street and after a second time of awakening to find I hadn't even been warned there were lots of police vehicle and GUN and would I like to go some other place?

When I did return nothing had changed so I cranked up everything I though would drive them out and also pluged my mike into the Sansui G-5700: Manilow, Carpenters, K-tel, Porter and Dolly, it ate a tape and I ended with Chris LeDoux singing about Copenhagen before I lost the right channel.

I blew the Jensens but I watched two thugs being walked to the police cart.

I can only hope I made them surrender. I know the landlord, who was a councilperson and she told me she would never let it happen again (and it hasn't).

The control pots can be crunchy anyhow and half the terminals are lost (side insertion, push terminals)

I'm going to fix the G as well. It was valiant.

I cut out the hole enough to allow me to position the ouside edge of the large dome tweeter and drive screws. I still need to repair the terminals and at least one pot.[attachment=0:2wgsuw18]4tgh566666hj.JPG[/attachment:2wgsuw18]

There are good crossovers on eBay (and the grilles and the correct woofers and tweeters that I don't need) but my need is to repair the terminals and at least one pot. I don't have $60 for a BIN, I spent $50 for a pair of New Balance shoes and three bottles of Sun detergent that I like and doesn't cost. I spent just under $40 on mom. I put just over 130 into sending my Pioneer PL-610 with prepayment and spent postage on my half of a trade. By April I want to send my A-2340 out to be repaired. I've waited a loooooong time.

I bought parts to put it back together. One seller sold me a couple parts: control buttons, a lever switch that was broken on one side, panels, I've got the power cord... I hardly spent $150 for the chassis and parts.

I pay a friend or three to get me stuiff as I have never had a Paypal account ever so my account is just for saving items to track. There's no way I'll risk my account of 22 years and a new account requires $100 minimum...I believe I now get $708 with the COLA increase (after 3 years).

But I've already got most everything I need and I was already thinking of sending it to Sam Palermo (skywavebe) late spring or summer.

I've got my crossovers, thanks to Lee and will work to repair the old ones as well. I simply love Altec crossovers, they are great!

By the way, Mark, my parts unit was only $29.95 and I've had at least 4 years to go over it.

I can patch them together a little and try them carefully.

Don't be dissing Chris. Met him several times at his ranch in Kaycee. About as down home a guy as you would meet, he was a good man and left this earth way to early.

That's great news, Lee. I'll be ahold of you later today.
