Hey guys...
My PL700B's right side meter (a Dixon, I believe) sticks on zero.
Tapping it frees it up but when it returns home after a good transient it tends to stick.
I haven't opened it up yet, but I'm wondering if there isn't a "stop" that could be adjusted or formed slightly to prevent the meter from coming back as far as it does, thus stopping it from sticking.
Have any of you got experience with this failure mode?
Thanks,
Dave

I had a meter do this. It was a mechanical issue, not an electronic one. Pull the meter, remove the front bezel from it. This can be done by gentley sliding a small slotted tool down the side of it. I think there are two spots on each side where the bezel has protrusions for holding the bezel onto the rest of the meter.
The bezel should pop off fairly easily. Sweep the meter across the meter face and see if you can see where it is hanging up.

Mine was hanging up on the aluminum plate which has the stencilling on it. The two face tape which held it to the meter had lost it's stickiness with age. I removed the tape, put a blob of silicone on the cast ridges of the meter where the tape used to reside, made sure it was seated properly and all has been well since.

Good Luck!

Thanks Doug,
I'm hoping that I have a similar problem. It sure sounds similar to yours. Mine works fine as soon as I give it a little tap of the frame, but then it sticks when it comes back to zero. Could you tell without disassembly that there was something out of alignment, or did you have to take it apart?

I think I had to take it apart.
