A friend down the street has a pair of these in pretty minty condition as well as a mint in box Sansui AU-999. I may make a trade deal with him for everything but my question is, would they be inadequate with a WOPL400? They are rated at 100w w/ 400w peak power. Obviously the amp has all the headroom a speaker could want but will they go up in flames if I put the power to them? Tracking says the amp will be here tomorrow and I would love to run a quad setup but can they cut it?

If it's clean power and you monitor voice temps to get an idea just how far you are pushing them..

I ran my Pioneer HPM-150s with Doug's Laart WOPL 1000 with nary a problem. And my 150s are rated at a lower power rating than those big SC-907s.

18" woofers! You will be moving a lot of air if you should get those SC-907 speakers. I am very interested in how they do. And the Sansui AU-999 is legendary amongst integrated amplifiers of that vintage and power output.

I will probably head over there today to see if we can hammer out a trade deal. He's sort of an odd fellow but I have known him for over a decade and have gotten a few cool items from him in the past for relatively cheap

How does one monitor voice coil temps while in use? I have a thermometer LOL. I know when I am putting the gas to the CV's that when I pull the fuses out of the back of them they are HOT. I like the Onkyo I am using but I can only take it up just pass half volume before I start to detect distortion in the bass. Any futher and a fuse goes on the right speaker. I am looking forward to the WOPL400 today so I won't have to deal with that anymore

With 2 of 3 of my power amps down, I too have recently been considering a 400. An AK member in Ottawa offered to rebuild both my down units. Decisions, decisions. Im torn between an expensive rebuild of 2 amps, or grab something that will hold me over until I get them rebuilt.

That definitely caught me off guard Nando. A very Lou, poetic sounding part by The Hip.
