Hi Joe,

That must be a semi-automatic Pioneer turntable from the mid 70's. I have a Pioneer PL-115D, but it doesn't work and I haven't checked into what might be the problem, beyond knowing the drive belt is intact and fine.

Are you going to wait for more information before making a decision on whether it's worth picking up? Lee has a Pioneer about the same vintage, I believe. Are you able to test it before buying it? Although at $25, you can't ask for much. Any specifics on the condition of the stylus, or cartridge model?

Nando.

I went back to check it. I couldn't get it to play, other then to forcibly hold the tone arm over the record, which spun but rather slowly. Wouldn't disengage from rest position to play. AT 1001 on it and the needle was bashed. No good.

Thanks for the replies.

I think it's a belt drive and wonder if it needs cleaned and re-lubed. If there are lamps in the mechanism (don't know why, my Philips GA-202 does) replacing them helps and the rest mioght be helped with some spraying.

Could end up a nice phono. Your needle should be readily available on eBay, especially from needledaddy1. If you have questions, ask him.

This is just my opinion. On a TT you can't go cheap. You have to bite the bullet and spend some money. The 25.00 table if you have the time and the want you could try to fixit. That way you can learn about the tables. I forget what I paid for my Micro Seiki. It wasn't cheap. And I have a MMF 2.2 also. Well 2 of them. If I ever get this arm wired it goes to Lee. LOL

I completely agree. Eventually, I see myself going there. For now I did get something cheap, in which case has bettered anything I've owned. A leap forward will likely mean investment. I'm at least happy to be spinning records again.

Education on vintage tables is the secret to having a true cherry for lemon prices. This forum doers have some institutional reference from Stu, Nando, Larry, etc. This is a place to ask those questions.
