Hi Larry,
I am glad you are having a good time with that unit but how is it to get to the tape path for cleaning? I worked on a bunch of Mitsubishi units that were also changers and there was physically no way to get to the heads and Pinch Rollers for cleaning which when a tape jams up in the cassette well leave for a very short service life. The quality of the performance figures even when the unit was cleaned up left a lot to be desired.
But this was a Mitsubishi- I hope Pioneer put more thought in their design.
Come to think of it there were a lot of CD changers with plastic cartridges that Pioneer and Hitachi sold- the same unit with different face. The cartridges warped and disc got caught in the mechanism. I had to fix several units at at least a couple of different places. I never buy changers of any kind or dual cassettes. I was against auto reverse until I found the R888X but that has mechanical weakness as well. But is better than most others- then there are Nakamichi. I never paid that much to get into those.
