I have a question on the pinout of the Q6 transistor, 2N3403. My schematic has the color code hand written as follows:
Base=Black
Collector=Red
Emitter=Brown

But the pinout code on the datasheet says the configuration is ECB, which makes the configuration:
Base=Brown
Collector=Red
Emitter=Black

Which is it? mine are mounted with the leads facing up and the mounting flange hole is on the left...

.......... B C E ???

The standard that Phase linear USUALLY adhered to for the 2N3403 is C=Red, E=Brown, B=Black. All my amps conform to this color coding.

I say USUALLY because there are always outliers that prove me wrong if I say ALWAYS

More from Gepetto;
On the 2N3403 discussion, the metal HS strap is more important than the choice of transistor. I have knocked dead 2N3403 transistors out of the HS strap to salvage it by glueing another TO-92 in the place of the original. There are many TO-92s with similar electrical characteristics to the 2N3403. The most important aspect of the device in this circuit configuration is the negative tempco on the B-E junction which is the same for any silicon transistor and the ability to couple it thermally to the heatsink (the strap).
