New Around These Parts
As a new member to this Audio community, I would like to thank everyone for all the great information that is available on this Forum. I would like to share a issue that is not really a problem because I think I have fixed it. My Phase linear 8000 turntable had the classic problems that seem to occur after time. Tone arm not lifting up or down, not stopping on the record starting point and not retuning at the end of the record. I came across on two beat up Pioneer Pl-1000 that still worked. I used them to to learn how everything worked. Not concerned if I mess something up. After changing out what the service manual said could be the problem and comparing each component. I replaced all the out of value caps and stock RCA cables with jacks to use my Kimber cables. New belt for tone arm motor. The only thing that worked for my PL turntable was when I plugged into my Variac on 116 volts. This came to me when I took a reading on the power supply feed. Schematic shows 24 volts and I was getting 26.8 volts. When I plugged into 120 ( I have a dedicated circuit to my listening room) all the automatic functions did not work. I then plugged into the 116 volts and everything work fine. I took voltage measurements on the other two Pioneer PL1000 and they seem to be around the same 26 plus volts. I'm sure there is more to it then my fix, but for know I'm enjoying Metallica sad but true.
