I'm cracking up, imagining that I'm interacting with all you guys, but anonymously. There's a bone-dead, shell of an early 400 currently on Ebay, and guys keep bidding up the price. This in spite of the fact that it's good for absolutely nothing but parts or a complete, perhaps White Oak, restoration. It's gotta be you guys. I've been watching it, but as soon as it went past $100, I bailed out. And even though I have no use for the thing, I was thinking, like I'm guessing some of you guys are thinking, that it would be a good 'When I Get Time' project for a future restoration. Anyway, it's gotta be you guys, which is great. Long live the community!. . . and prosper.

Supply and Demand, I guess.

There was a broken 400 with handles on Craigslist, local to me for free! I emailed, it was gone.

Keep looking, you will find one. Working PL400s are going for $400, a rebuild will most likely cost $200 in outputs main CAPs and misc stuff. A WOPL conversion will cost something like $500 in parts alone. math not there unless you want one for sentimental reasons.

Nobody I know. I got my hands full with other (bigger) stuff.

I bought a dead, very early 400 on Ebay for less than $100. It was cheap because it came from Hawaii and took six weeks of 'slow boat' to arrive. I guess no one else wanted to wait, or pay the ridiculous price for expedited shipping. It's still on my shelf waiting for some love. But right now, I'm in the process of a complete White Oak 400 rebuild on a unit that was given to me by a friend, after which, I have a 3300 pre waiting to be given new life. However, whenever I see PL equipment affordably available, Ebay or Craigs, I'm always very tempted.
