Outlaw RR2150

I have the Outlaw 990 preamp processor as my main home theater system controller. Good build quality and features. Excellent full analog pass through capabilities. I traded up from my prior Yamaha pre-processor and it was a major step forward in surround processing capabilities.
 
It is now on sale at Outlaw for $599 including shipping through August 20th.
 
The Sansui needs some minor attention so it will be going to Chris Ready soon. I love vintage equipment but have been considering gettng a new receiver for my listening room. I have looked into seperates but the price to play isn't cheap....much more than I can justify base on the frequency that the room gets used. A simple receiver seems to make the most sense at this point.

The RR2150 looks interesting and is doable price wise. I read most of the reviews which seem favorable.

I've only got Tuners now. No receiver...

I take that back, I bought a used fairly recent 5.1 AV for mom and dad at Christmas 3-4 years ago,

It was a decent set in most all respects and I liked it.
 
I took the plung and got the RR2150 during the sale. Got it setup last nite and listen for a hour or so....so far I'm very happy with it. The volume controls on the remote are a little touchy but this little receiver packs a bunch. Good solid bass, the highs are clear but not too bright. It's a good solid performer that I'll have for a long time.

The only thing I miss is the loudness control on the Sansui. I used it all the time at low levels. I've had many receivers over the years with loudness controls that never sounded good to me, so I never used them but the Sansui was the exception. The RR2150 has a "speaker equalization" selector that adds a half-octave of bass boost at a choice of frequencies to improve performance which helps.

It's nice to have a modern receiver to add in the rotation.:D

Me too Larry. I wish Outlaw offered a wood case for it to compliment the art deco look. I saw a DIY case a guy did somewhere on one of the audio sites, that looked fantastic.....now I just have to find it.
