Oscar Pisrtorius sentenced to five years...

in a South African court today for the 'culpable homicide' (similar to what we call manslaughter in the US) of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. He also received a suspended three-year sentence on weapons charges.

The prosecution had called for 10, if not 15 years. The judge has been under a cloud of controversy over the verdict and probably now for the sentence.

The defense had argued that Mr. Pistorius' disability would create a hardship and asked for some form of community service and home confinement, obviously not deemed appropriate by many.

Pistorius was taken directly to his imprisonment.

While I didn't watch this trail very much, from what I did see was a very impressive judge dealing with waaaay more than she might ever have had before her, she really impressed me!! That said, Oscar in my eyes is one guilty SOB (I have no idea what led him to do what he did on that fateful night...but, he did it nonetheless!! Sad that a beautiful womans life was snuffed out . I feel the sentence is unfair for the crime, he deserves much longer for what he did.
