Banner Thomas was associated with Molly Hatchet until 1983, at which time he had an argument with other members about the direction of the group and left. He said that he didn't fully regret it he felt the record company was pushing them in the wrong direction. He formed his own band later called Big Engine.
The cause of death is believed to be a heart attack.
